Turki Al-Sheikh, the head of the Saudi government agency for entertainment General Entertainment Authority, announced on social media platform X that he recently met with Hans Zimmer. During this meeting, the composer expressed interest in creating a new version of the national anthem, as well as composing an original piece titled „Arabia,” inspired by Saudi Arabia, its achievements, and heritage.
„I met with a person who is considered one of the greatest composers of our time. The legendary Hans Zimmer,” wrote Al-Sheikh, sharing a photo of them together with the two-time Oscar winner.
Zimmer also offered to compose music for the upcoming Arab film „The Battle of Yarmouk.” He promised that he would visit Saudi Arabia again soon with his family.
On January 18, the composer received an award for his lifetime achievement at the Joy Awards ceremony in Riyadh. Additionally, a concert featuring Zimmer is scheduled for January 24 in the Saudi capital.
