Atak na pociągi z amunicją dla obrońców Ukrainy został udaremniony

SBU recently announced that the main agent of a spy and sabotage network has been arrested while preparing to derail the first train. His target was a train carrying ammunition. The man, a resident of Rivne, had already prepared a special obstacle to be placed on the tracks to cause an accident. The renegade had been instructed to film all of his operations. He had set up cameras near the railway tracks, hidden in birdhouses as a decoy.

According to SBU, the saboteur was working for the 316th intelligence center of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia (GRU) located in Crimea. „The agent operated within a network consisting of two additional traitors currently hiding on the temporarily occupied peninsula. The organizer of the network was 43-year-old Roman Yakymchuk, and the liaison who located the agent and assigned him tasks was Oleksandr Ignatiev, a former employee of Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies, dismissed in 2014 for corruption and alcoholism,” SBU reports.

Investigators discovered that the traitors came up with a simple plan to make some extra money from their cooperation with Moscow’s security services. They asked their „handlers” to send $100,000 as a reward for the saboteur after completing the task. However, in reality, they intended to pay him „only” $40,000 and split the rest among themselves.

The entire trio is suspected of treason and preparing for sabotage, which could result in a life sentence. Only the resident of Rivne has been detained so far. His two supervisors will be tried in absentia.

In the meantime, authorities are also investigating a series of parcel bombings, possibly connected to a separate spy operation. The details of the investigation are still unclear, but it appears that there may be a link to the same network involved in the train derailment plot. As information continues to unfold, Ukrainian security forces are on high alert to prevent any further acts of sabotage and espionage orchestrated by foreign powers.
