Duńscy piłkarze zdecydowali się odmówić podwyżki i przekazać ją piłkarkom
Danish Football Association and the Danish Footballers’ Association have reached a new four-year agreement, under which both male and female national team players will receive the same compensation for representing their country. In order to make this possible, the men’s team agreed to reduce insurance costs and forgo a pay rise – according to the global players’ union FIFPRO.
„The men’s national team has decided not to demand any changes to the terms of the new agreement,” said Michael Sahl Hansen, the director of the Danish players’ association Spillerforeningen, in a statement released by FIFPRO.
„This is an extraordinary step to help improve the conditions of women’s national teams. Instead of seeking better conditions for themselves, the players thought about supporting the women’s team.”
Before signing the agreement, which will come into effect after this year’s tournament in Germany and will be valid until 2028, consultations were held with senior female players.
„When we presented the plan to the negotiation team, which included Andreas Christensen, Thomas Delaney, Christian Eriksen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Simon Kjaer, and Kasper Schmeichel, they were very pleased,” said Sahl Hansen.
„This is what they wanted: to show that they take responsibility. They liked the idea of providing better opportunities and conditions for other national teams.”
The Danish men’s national team started Euro 2024 with an unexpected draw against Slovenia (1:1). They have two more difficult matches ahead of them: against England and Serbia.
The new agreement between the Danish Football Association and the Danish Footballers’ Association marks a significant step towards gender equality in football. By ensuring that both male and female players receive equal compensation for representing their country, Denmark is setting a positive example for the rest of the world.
This groundbreaking decision showcases the commitment of the Danish players to support their female counterparts and work towards a more inclusive and equitable football environment. It demonstrates that when players come together and prioritize the greater good, positive change can be achieved.
As the Danish men’s national team continues their Euro 2024 campaign, they do so with the knowledge that they are not only representing their country on the pitch but also standing up for gender equality off the field. Their actions serve as an inspiration to players and fans alike, showing that unity and solidarity can lead to meaningful progress in the world of football.
