Prokuratura prowadzi dochodzenie – pełen spokój co do pracy śledczych.
Daniel Obajtek, a former president of PKN Orlen, has been accused of various wrongdoings in relation to the company. The prosecution is currently conducting three major investigations into alleged abuses at Orlen, including a probe by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Płock concerning the merger of Orlen with Grupa Lotos.
The investigations focus on suspicions of exceeding powers and neglecting duties by members of Orlen’s management board and other individuals, as well as causing damages estimated at no less than 4 billion PLN. Despite these allegations, Obajtek has maintained that he is not personally under investigation by the prosecution. He expressed confidence in the legal process but criticized what he perceived as unfair attacks on the Orlen-Lotos merger.
Obajtek emphasized that the merger had been approved by the European Commission and all shareholders, and questioned the need for sensationalized investigations. He also expressed willingness to testify before a parliamentary committee on the merger process, though he lamented the absence of such a commission.
Furthermore, Obajtek recalled his experience with the parliamentary committee investigating the visa scandal, where he felt unfairly targeted and harassed. He criticized the misuse of state resources for political purposes, citing instances of police surveillance in pursuit of him. He argued that such actions were detrimental to the democratic principles of the state and called for greater accountability in government operations.
In relation to the visa scandal investigation, Obajtek acknowledged delays in his appearance before the committee but attributed them to his electoral campaign commitments and inadequate notification procedures. He eventually appeared before the committee in July, following the European Parliament elections.
Despite the ongoing legal challenges and controversies surrounding his tenure at Orlen, Obajtek remains steadfast in his defense of the company’s actions and his own integrity. He has vowed to cooperate with investigations and uphold transparency in his dealings, while also advocating for fair treatment and due process in all legal proceedings.
