Siedział w więzieniu, a teraz zostaje ambasadorem – Teść Trumpa w drodze do Francji
Donald Trump has a history of appointing family members to important positions within his administration, and it’s no surprise to anyone. During his first term, he appointed his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as a senior advisor. However, it seems that we won’t see him in the administration of the new president, as he announced in February of this year that he does not plan to serve Trump anymore and wants to focus on his business ventures. After leaving the White House in 2021 and moving into the financial sector with his father-in-law, Kushner has no plans to return to big politics.
Since his son-in-law is too busy, Trump calls upon his father, Charles, to serve. They know each other quite well, as the businessman has donated large sums of money to Republicans. Trump reciprocated in 2020, granting him a presidential pardon. Even though Kushner served almost two years in prison and was also stripped of his professional license, being a criminal posed a reputational problem for the entire company he ran, so Trump’s gesture had concrete consequences.
Who is Charles Kushner? The patriarch of the Kushner family is 70 years old. He was born into a Jewish family that survived the Holocaust and emigrated from Eastern Poland. His father, Joseph Berkovitz, was an American developer and businessman who left a considerable fortune to his children.
Charles Kushner is a lawyer by training but was disbarred. In 1985, he inherited 4,000 apartments in New Jersey from his father and founded Kushner Companies.
In 2004, the future US ambassador to France ended up in prison. He was accused of tax evasion, Federal Election Commission fraud, and retaliating against a witness. In a plea deal with the prosecution, Kushner also admitted to hiring a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law and sent the recordings to his sister. After his release from prison, Kushner hired two former inmates (who were incarcerated for fraud) at the real estate management company.
Kushner currently owns 17,000 apartments in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and Tennessee. The Kushner family controls another 2,100 properties in various prestigious neighborhoods. His net worth is estimated at $1.8 billion.
Kushner has been a long-time supporter of Trump. In August 2015, he donated $100,000 to the Make America Great Again PAC. In 2023, he donated $1 million to Trump’s campaign.
