Wyciek 40 tysięcy donosów Białorusinów z bazy danych KGB doprowadził do skandalu
„Cyberpartisans” have started to publish stolen materials on the internet. It turns out that Belarusians were engaging in espionage even while residing abroad, including in European Union countries. Spouses were snitching on their husbands. They were „kindly” informing the KGB about their fellow citizens’ involvement in democratic opposition actions, critical remarks towards the regime and Alexander Lukashenko, and financial aid for victims of political repression. The targets of denunciation were not only acquaintances and strangers, but even family members. Wives were snitching on their husbands, parents on their children. Several KGB informants operating under cover were also uncovered.
In one of the reports, we read about… „caricature stickers on the portrait of the current president of the Republic of Belarus” in the office of the director of a transport company in Białystok. So far, the KGB has not commented on the allegations made by the opposition group.

It is disturbing to see such blatant betrayal within families and communities, where trust should prevail. The use of espionage and informants to silence dissent and suppress opposition is a dangerous tactic that undermines the very foundations of democracy and freedom.
The fact that individuals are willing to betray their loved ones and fellow citizens for personal gain or to curry favor with those in power is a stark reminder of the lengths to which authoritarian regimes will go to maintain control and silence dissent.
As the world watches the situation unfold in Belarus, it is crucial for international bodies and governments to condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with those fighting for democracy and human rights. Only by shining a light on these atrocities and holding those responsible to account can we hope to see a future where freedom and justice prevail.
